MIC (Methionine, Inositol, Choline) – These are Lipotropic nutrients that play an important role in the breakdown and metabolism of fat in the body. These compounds enhance the liver and gallbladders role by decreasing fat deposits and speeding up metabolism of fat and its removal. Lipotropic nutrients are also used to maintain a healthy liver. Using the combination of the three has proven to be an effective aid in total fat loss. Methionine, inositol, and choline are the three ingredients which form the foundation of the Lipo-C injection.
L-Methionine – is supplied from outside of the body. It is an amino acid that is very effective for maintenance of body protein and nitrogen balance and for the reutilization of other amino acids. It is needed to preserve muscle tissue during dieting and exercise. Since methionine is a nutritionally indispensable amino acid, its availability to muscle tissue is important for maintaining an anabolic drive for protein synthesis. Methionine deficiency has been known to decrease protein synthesis while its supplementation increases protein synthesis. Large amounts of research involving this protein has been studied in major trauma (including burn and heat injury patients), where changes in protein synthesis and breakdown have been compared with those with a normal (non-stressed) state.
Inositol This carbohydrate acts like a vitamin in the human body. It is naturally-occurring in many plants and animals, and it also can be produced synthetically in a lab. The most common uses for inositol are for treating nerve pain caused by diabetes, and for helping with conditions such as panic disorder high cholesterol, depression, cancer and some mental illnesses such as schizophrenia. Recently, studies have shown preliminary results which indicate inositol also may be beneficial during weight loss programs
Choline is produced in the liver and is most important during the early stages of our development. It is important for brain function and growth, as well as a properly-operating liver. It helps our livers to rid themselves of accumulating fat. Scientists believe that choline works best in our bodies when it is combined with other important vitamins, minerals and nutrients our bodies need in order to function at an optimal level. It appears to work best when paired with folate and methionine.
Vitamin B1 (thiamine) Essential to many functions within the body, including the proper operation of the nervous system and muscles. It also is responsible for the metabolism of carbohydrate, hydrochloric acid production which is essential for digestion and other multiple enzymatic processes within the body. Because this vitamin is responsible for converting carbohydrates into glucose to be used by our bodies for fuel, it is very important to those who are watching their weight or trying to shed some pounds. Carbohydrates that are not converted to glucose and then burned off as energy will be stored as fat.
Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) Its primary job is to help the body grow and produce adequate red blood cells. Having enough red blood cells is necessary to the body’s ability to release energy from consumed carbohydrates. One of the most important tasks this vitamin helps our bodies to perform is proper digestion of food, as well as the conversion of carbohydrate to glucose for fuel. Because of this role, getting enough riboflavin can be a vital component of any diet and exercise regimen.
Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) It is used by our bodies to synthesize and metabolize proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Because of its vital role in breaking down proteins, carbohydrates and fats, this vitamin can be essential to those who are trying to lose weight. A study conducted in 1995 at the Department of General Surgery in Hong Kong Central Hospital concluded that dieters who had adequate amounts of this B vitamin in their systems did not suffer from the “hunger pangs” that commonly accompany low-fat, low-calorie diet and exercise regimens which often are prescribed for weight loss.
L-Carnitine – This is an amino acid which is required for the transport and breakdown of body fat for the generation of metabolic Energy. Studies have shown that supplementation can decrease fat mass, preserve muscle during exercise, and reduce fatigue. Further research has shown that this is also a regulator of skeletal muscle fuel selection. (It is needed to determine whether muscle tissue will use carbs or fat for energy). When using oral supplementation – a high dose is required to promote fat tissue breakdown. When taken by IM injection, the nutrients are completely absorbed by the whole body.
Vitamin B12, Methyl cobalamin is the most bio-available form, which means it is readily absorbed and used by the body once injected. Many over the counter B12 supplements contain Cyanocobalamin, also a cobalamin, which must first convert to methylcobalamin within the liver for the body to have any use for it. Methylcobalamin is used in the treatment of diabetic neuropathy and has also been advocated to protect the cognitive function of patients suffering from depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, stroke, and ALS.
Side effects: Pertain to the injection itself. Due to the pH level, patients may experience mild to moderate burning and irritation at the injection site. This can be minimized by injecting Lipo-C slowly, up to 30 seconds or by using a longer needle for deeper injection. Please let the medical staff know if you experience any discomfort from the injection site.
